the changing of the guard

well, friends, i suppose this is where the road ends for me. my last day at marigold is in two days and i've been cleaning out my office and generally trying to put my affairs in order. i've been truly lucky to have been given the chance to work with joan and everyone else here over the last five years and definitely feel a little sadness mixed with my excitement as i move on to new adventures. in my time here, i've seen our little company grow by leaps and bounds, winning awards, gaining business and the respect and trust of clients all over northeast ohio, buying new vans, obtaining new and bigger venues, and moving to a brand-new space that i got to design and layout. i suppose i've seen a lot of changes, almost all for the better, since joan and i first met in a starbuck's back in the summer 2004. even as i go, though, i know that we will remain close and, in some way, a part of me will always be tied to marigold catering. i will miss so many of the people here, many of whom i consider to be my closest friends.

one of those friends, mike smith, a talented and intelligent chef and all-around great guy, will be taking over the kitchen as marigold's new executive chef. mike has been working as my executive sous chef for the last few years and, as i became increasingly busy with outside projects, has pretty much been running the show for the last year. i feel confident leaving the care of my kitchen and marigold's reputation in his competent hands.

thank you to everyone who has made my time at marigold so incredibly enjoyable and rewarding. i wish you all so much luck and success in the future and i'm somehow sure our paths will cross again.
